Gary Oldman says Amazon MGM has already chosen the next James Bond, but the studio has not confirmed his claim. Oldman made the statement while discussing his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden during an interview with The Morning Show. “It’s been rumored that [Lowden] is on the shortlist,” Oldman said. “We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.” Amazon MGM has not announced the actor who will replace Daniel Craig. The studio also has not confirmed that Lowden has been selected. The comment comes as reports suggest the Bond search is moving into a more formal stage. According to Puck reporter Matthew Belloni, Amazon MGM has reportedly begun sending test deals to actors under consideration for the role. Belloni also called several Bond shortlists circulating online “bogus” and wrote, “Anyone who says they know who Bond is now … doesn’t.” A test deal is a contract made before an actor takes part in a screen test.
