1984 #7 |
1984 (magazine) v1 #7, 1979 - In the first of two tales by Alex Nino, airports are replaced by mass teleportation centers, becoming the common mode of passenger transport. All goes smoothly until one madman sneaks in an explosive device. The artist does remarkable depictions of advanced technology and architecture. His linework forms impressive patterns and perspectives, floating panels atop additional background scenes. Nino is even better on his second story, about a futuristic war between the sexes. His layouts are refreshing and innovative, sometimes combining multiple viewpoints within a single montage. Both stories were later reprinted in 1994 #23. In addition, Richard Corben provides the issue's only full color story. Other artists in this magazine include Rudy Nebres and Frank Thorne. This issue is also included in this Nino gallery. This is 7 of 10 1984 issues by Nino.
