A Month of Wednesdays: August 2026

BORROWED:Crescent Moon Marching Vol. 1 (Scholastic/Graphix) I was intrigued by this manga when I first heard about it, mainly because my friend who also reads manga used to be in her high school marching band, and thus a manga about high school marching band seemed relevant to her interest. When it was finally released, then, I snapped it up, intending to write a review of it for Good Comics for Kids but, alas...but then I remembered that my editor had already written an early review of it a few months back...and it was also highlighted as one of the books of interest in a column on the site the week of its release. There's no rule that says we can't offer multiple reviews of the same book, of course, but it seemed like overkill for me to review it too. I mean, it's a fine book, and there are some interesting things about it that differentiates it from the pack—it's printed in full color rather than black and white, it's from Scholastic rather than a publisher better known for their manga offerings—but I don't think it's so extraordinary that readers need a third post about it on the site.So, I'm writing about it here.Hamachi Yamada's series stars Mizuki, who runs away from home—an...
