Annie Banks is a Rotten Tomatoes–approved critic, and CBR editor and writer specializing in anime, comics, and superheroes. Her work has also appeared in Collider and The Mary Sue, where she covered pop culture, fandoms, and entertainment trends. A lifelong fan whose love for storytelling began with Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Annie blends critical insight with genuine passion for geek culture, from sci-fi to K-pop.

For those looking forward to Absolute Batman #24, there's some bad news that lies ahead.

CBR can report that the highly anticipated comic will be facing a slight delay when reaching anxious readers. Per the site's reporting, "Absolute Batman #24, solicited for the 9th of September 2026 only last week, will be two weeks late, arriving in comic book stores for the 23rd of September 2026."

Delays are nothing new for the comic book industry, with DC Comics already assigning a new release date to Absolute Batman #24, there should be a sense of ease that the story will return with little haste. The delay in release dates doesn't seem terribly significant when considering how quickly DC Comics has assured that the next issue of Absolute Batman will fall into the readers' hands, though their decision to set back the comics' arrival is respected.

"WITHOUT THE BADGE…WITHOUT HER FATHER…ABSOLUTE BAT ENTERS THE SCENE. In the battle of self, of Batman versus Batman, there can be only one. Everyone Bruce has ever known, ever cared about, or ever loved will face their ultimate inner demons," the solicit for Absolute Batman #24 declares. Even if there is a few weeks' setback, it's been confirmed that Absolute Batgirl is determined to make a bold self-introduction.

Absolute Batgirl was given a first look, properly, at HeroesCon 2026. "At the Absolute Universe panel, Absolute Batman's creative team of writer Scott Snyder and artist Nick Dragotta talked with DC Comics Editor-In-Chief Marie Javins, revealing the character was on the way," CBR confirmed in earlier reports. Now, fans will be able to experience Absolute Batgirl in full glory.

Absolute Batman Will Be Getting An Animated Series

For those who cannot wait for the next issue of Absolute Batman, the breakout DC Comics hit won't just stay pinned to print pages. Per CBR, "DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation can confirm that an animated show based on the smash-hit series is in development."

Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta have confirmed that they'll be involved in the Absolute Batman animation adaptation, which is a major relief when taking confidence in trusting how the standout comic series will manifest on the small screen. It'd previously been teased by Dragotta that he'd like to see Studio Trigger animate Absolute Batman, and it's not too late for Warner Bros. to offer a collaboration in the early creative process. It has been confirmed, though, that Absolute Batman will be completely CG-animated.

The Absolute Universe and Absolute Batman series have been rightfully praised for transforming DC Comics' mainstay heroes into revolutionary, alternative versions of themselves. With no end in sight for Absolute Batman or the Absolute Universe, plenty more stories will thrill DC Comics fans in the future.

Absolute Batman #24 arrives on Sept. 23.
