Another issue of this anthology. John Arcudi and Ramon Bachs tell the story of the “Bodega Bandit.” He stuck up a local bodega three years ago, was caught by Spider-Man, and had his picture in the paper (taken by Peter Parker). Now he can’t get a job, even though he’s done his time. He becomes homeless. Along the way, he watches Spider-Man fight Shocker and roots for the bad guy.
This story is problematic. I’m not sure why I am supposed to feel for a guy who robbed a local grocer at gunpoint and now has had consequences. I mean, I get that he’s supposed to be allowed to reenter society after his jail sentence but…I dunno. I found it very hard to accept the premise here.
In addition to reprints, the issue also has Defalco/Frenz doing a Mayday Parker story and Paul Benjamin and Val Semeiks with a Peter Parker vignette featuring Damage Control.
