Amazon MGM’s James Bond Casting Search Faces Another Setback

The search for the next James Bond has taken another turn after Theo James said he’s “definitely too old” to play the famous spy. The 41-year-old actor also warned that the role could bring a level of fame he doesn’t want for himself or his family. Daniel Craig ended his run as 007 with No Time to Die, which reached theaters in 2021 after several delays linked to the coronavirus pandemic. Craig had already confirmed that the film would be his fifth and final Bond movie, setting off years of speculation over who could replace him. Craig first played Bond in Casino Royale in 2006. That makes the current casting search the first effort to find a new actor for the role in more than 20 years. Amazon MGM Studios has not announced a casting date, although some reports have suggested that the studio could reveal its choice by the end of 2026. James had remained one of the names linked to the role. The actor is known for The Monkey, The White Lotus and The Gentlemen.
