Besides Robert Eggers, Apple TV+ Also Has a ‘Nosferatu’ Remake

Actor Doug Jones, who stars in David Lee Fisher’s upcoming Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, has shared his thoughts on the release timing of his own film and Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake, both coming out within two months of each other. In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jones expressed excitement about seeing Eggers’ film and is enthusiastic about the dual release of the two Nosferatu movies, saying:

“I’m a big fan of Robert Eggers, and I can’t wait to see their movie as well, and I think Bill Skarsgård is going to also kill it. But we all have our own spin on that original tale, and I think the fans out there, hopefully, will want to see all of them and celebrate this tale, this fable of Nosferatu in whatever version comes out. And hopefully there’s audience enough for all of them.”

It remains to be seen how the release timing will impact the reception of both projects, but having seen the trailer below, that is pretty doubtful.

NOSFERATU - A Symphony of Horror *TRAILER 2024*

Both films are interpretations of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu by Henrik Galeen and F.W. Murnau, inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The German film centers on the undead Count Orlok and a young woman with a grim fascination with vampires. Fisher’s A Symphony of Horror is a shot-for-shot remake of the original 1922 silent film, utilizing green screen, CGI, and practical sets. From the looks of it, I’ve seen better work in Playstation cut-scenes. Meanwhile, Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu is a complete reimagining of the original film, featuring his talent for folklore, atmosphere, and period-specific dialogue, and the trailer for it looks magnificent.

Skarsgård is known for his physicality and horror performances. Skarsgård stars alongside Ella Purnell and Nicholas Hoult in the highly anticipated installment, with Hoult previously teasing Skarsgård’s performance as Count Orlok and calling his performance transformative and terrifying.

Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror is already available on Amazon Prime, and it premieres October 18 on Apple TV+, which is closer to Halloween, while Nosferatu is getting a theatrical release on December 25.
