At this weekend’s D23, Disney announced the cast of their upcoming X-Men movie being directed by Jake Schreier. In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we were first introduced to a sociopathic Jean Grey, played by Sadie Sink. Also announced were Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister. Last week we learned about Kit Connor as Cyclops, confirming that Marvel Studios was handing the iconic role of the leader of the X-Men to Heartstopper star Kit Connor, a move that fits a clear pattern at the studio. According to Deadline, the 22-year-old British actor will play Scott Summers in the upcoming X-Men reboot inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character is a founding member of the team, created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, and has long been portrayed as the field leader of the X-Men. Connor rose to fame playing a gay teen in the Netflix series Heartstopper, which ran from 2022 to 2024 and was based on young adult author Alice Oseman’s books and comics.
