These issues start a long-form story that ties together the rest of the Blade series.
We continue to see flashbacks to Blade’s past, but these issues ramp up the storyline. Blade kills a vampire who was only recently turned, and is now wanted for murder. He still fulfills his mission while on the run, and in issue #5 kills a department store santa possessed by a demon. This happens against the backdrop of Civl War, so we also get to see Blade face off against Morbius and Wolverine. Morbius is a registered super-being(!) and SHIELD uses him to find Blade and try to bring him in to register.

The Wolverine conflict is brought on by SHIELD who offer to allow Blade to be a registered hero if he’ll bring in Logan. Through the fight, Blade learns that Wolverine saved his life long ago and so the two heroes go their separate ways–without Blade fulfilling his duty to SHIELD.
Meanwhile, Blade’s vampire father Lucas Cross is now a powerful Senator. He’s working to fulfill an ancient prophecy and needs Blade to perform it. So Blade’s not just being hunted by the cops, he’s also being hunted by his own father.
Eventually, Cross captures Blade and tries to turn him “full vampire” by chaining his son and starving him, then tempting him with the blood of an innocent virgin.

We’re led to believe in the issue #6 cliffhanger that Blade is about to give in and eat the girl, but instead he bites off his own hand.

That’s badass.
