Some sci-fi franchises are popular right out of the gate, such as Star Wars, while others are forced to wait to evolve into some of the most celebrated and creatively influential pieces of art of all time. One of the most essential examples of the latter is Blade Runner.

Ridley Scott's 1982 original film was a critical and commercial disappointment, but its rich dystopian vision went on to spawn a beloved 2017 sequel, Blade Runner 2049, and an underrated anime called Blade Runner: Black Lotus. Fans of the series still waiting on a second season are in for a treat this summer.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas Is Coming To Trade In Summer 2026

In Nov. 2021, an animated TV show set in the world of the Blade Runner franchise called Blade Runner: Black Lotus premiered on Adult Swim. Taking place in 2032 Los Angeles, brought to life with anime-style CGI, the story follows a Replicant named Elle, who has lost her memory and must rely on her deadly arsenal of skills while searching for her true identity.

The series, starring Iron Fist's Jessica Henwick in the lead role for the English-language version, lasted just 13 episodes. However, those who could not get enough of Elle's journey were able to see it continue in the form of a comic book series, starting with the first volume in 2022 and a second volume known as Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas, which launched in Sept. 2025.

This July, Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas, is about to return to comic book stores as a trade volume collecting all four chapters. The story continues Elle's search for answers to her past, which brings her to the irradiated ruins of what was once called Sin City. While there, she becomes acquainted with a community of other Replicants, and falls prey to a new threat enacted by Niander Wallace, Jared Leto's Blade Runner 2049 character.

The 112-page book, released by Titan Comics and priced at $17.99, is written by Nancy Collins, who also wrote the first volume, Leaving L.A., but is even better known for creating literary horror hero Sonja Blue, a vampire who moonlights hunting other creatures of the night. Illustrating Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas is Jesus Hérvas, whose best-known work includes Marvel's X-Men: Blood Hunt and Magik from 2025.

A New Blade Runner Comic Is Also Due In July

The most die-hard fans of the Blade Runner franchise are probably well-versed in its contributions to the comic book medium and have likely read all four parts of Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas already. Thus, they probably would be jazzed to know there is more from the world of Replicants to check out from Titan Comics this summer.

Also out in July is the third issue of Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus - To Lose is to Win, which is also the second volume in the series that launched in 2024 with Die in Peace. This chapter continues Rumika’s search for stolen tech, leading her to become embroiled in a bloody samurai duel, while another character named Mead uncovers a Yakuza conspiracy.

Nancy Collins also pens Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus - To Lose is to Win #3. However, illustrating this series is Mariano Taibo, who has provided art for a few other comics connected to popular sci-fi movie franchises, such as Boom! Studios' Dune and Planet of the Apes adaptations and Dark Horse's series based on 2010's Predators.

The original Blade Runner takes place in a dystopian future in which artificial beings called Replicants have been outlawed and are hunted and "retired" by special cops like Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford in the 1982 film and the arguably better Blade Runner 2049, which also stars Ryan Gosling. The franchise is inspired by influential author Philip K. Dick's 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus - To Lose is to Win #3 is now available where comic books are sold, and Blade Runner: Black Lotus - Las Vegas hits the shelves on July 7, 2026.
