Blumhouse has released a new trailer for its upcoming horror remake “Wolf Man,” a modern take on the classic Universal monster. The film hits theaters on Jan. 17.
Christopher Abbott stars as the titular lycanthrope, who terrorizes his family and wife, played by “Ozark” star Julia Garner.
Here’s the official logline: “The film follows Blake (Abbott), a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead. With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Garner), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matilda Firth). But as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. As the night stretches on, however, Blake begins to behave strangely, transforming into something unrecognizable, and Charlotte will be forced to decide whether the terror within their house is more lethal than the danger without.”

Last month saw the official debut of what is presumably the Wolf Man’s creature design at the Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios and it was not received well. While it is possible that this costume might not fully represent what we’ll see in the final version of the movie, the design itself is pretty lackluster, looking nothing like the traditional “Wolfman” horror fans are familiar with. And since this was revealed at Universal Studios, we will definitely see something very close this design in the film.
Take a look and see what you think:
We all need to collectively band together, like folks did with the Sonic movie, to get them to fix the design! Because what in the world is that nonsense?! pic.twitter.com/2HakG1pAbr

No idea what HHN is but that just looks pathetic

That looks terrible.

This really feels like a bad creative decision which may come back to haunt this reboot. Universal’s Invisible Man reboot at least had an advantage that this one doesn’t. Historically, werewolf movies rise or fall on the design of the monster. There may still be time to fix this. Let me know what you think of it in the comments.
