Cage Breaks Silence on Amazon’s ‘Spider-Noir’ Cancellation

Spider-Noir star Nicolas Cage says one season was enough after Prime Video canceled the superhero series. “For me, one season is perfect, having said what I wanted to say with this dangerous, innovative, pop-art Spider-Man,” Cage said in a statement to Deadline. He added, “Onwards, upwards, inwards.” Cage had already expressed uncertainty about the show’s future before its May release on MGM+ and Prime Video. Speaking with Variety, he said, “whether it happens or not, all of us achieved what we set out to do, and it works on its own.” The first season told a mostly complete story, with only a few loose threads remaining. The series earned a 92% critics score and a 90% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. It also received 11 Emmy Award nominations, the most of any Prime Video series in 2026. The show’s high production cost and respectable, but not blockbuster, viewership may have contributed to the cancellation.
