Bad news for Chucky enthusiasts. While most of the Child’s Play films starring the possessed killer doll are presently available on Netflix, they will be removed from the service on October 31. It’s part of the standard distribution of horror titles on streaming sites, but fans will have a bittersweet Halloween season.
The Chucky pictures distributed by Universal Pictures will leave Netflix on Halloween. While the majority of them have received little critical raves, Chucky fanatics still seem to adore them. The Chucky movies available on Netflix till October 31 are listed below:
Child’s Play 2 | 1990 | 44% |
Child’s Play 3 | 1991 | 19% |
Bride of Chucky | 1998 | 45% |
Seed of Chucky | 2004 | 35% |
Curse of Chucky | 2013 | 79% |
Cult of Chucky | 2017 | 81% |
The franchise follows the adventures of a killer Good Guys doll, possessed by the soul of Charles Lee Ray who managed to transfer his soul into the inanimate doll that a desperate mother buys for her son. Andy Barclay gets the present he asked for, but then the doll begins to show signs of life, and tries to transfer his soul into the child, all without the use of any batteries. The original Child’s Play‘s success turned into a franchise led by creator Don Mancini that went through all sorts of changes but always remained popular.
Child’s Play, the original Chucky film, is still available to stream absolutely free on Tubi, and all three seasons of the recent Chucky TV show are still available on Shudder and Peacock.
