Chris Hansen Weighs Legal Action Over ‘PRIMETIME’ Movie

Chris Hansen says he may consider “legal remedies” over PRIMETIME, an upcoming movie inspired by his work on To Catch A Predator. The TV host hasn’t seen the film, even though Robert Pattinson plays a character based on him. The original To Catch A Predator series produced clips that still spread online. It also inspired copycats, and some of those people later went to jail. Still, nobody has done it quite like Hansen’s version. A24 announced the project in 2024. The movie draws from a 2007 Esquire article titled “Tonight on Dateline This Man Will Die.” Pattinson is set to portray Hansen. A24 has released looks at the film, including a brief trailer. Hansen wasn’t involved in the production, and he hasn’t attended an early screening. He told Page Six that he refused to sign a nondisclosure agreement that would have allowed him to watch a preview. “When someone makes a movie about you but won’t let you see it, you do have to wonder why they won’t let you see it,” Hansen told the outlet. He also said he believes the film will portray him fairly.
