Nicolas Cage is heading back to the big screen in Parish, a post-apocalyptic action thriller about a nuclear war survivor who faces cannibals in a ruined world. The Oscar-winning actor appeared on television earlier this year in the superhero streaming series Spider-Noir. Concourse Media is taking the project to the TIFF market. Cage plays “a hardened survivor” who has “managed to stay alive with his highly trained attack dogs by following one unbreakable rule: never let anyone through the gate.” That rule is tested when a desperate woman carrying an infant reaches his sanctuary. Her arrival exposes the refuge Parish spent three decades building and draws a vicious group of cannibals from the wasteland. With the compound under siege and his past catching up with him, he must fight to protect what remains. Adam Sigal will write and direct Parish. The film doesn’t have a release date, but Concourse Media says it has “all the ingredients of a real theatrical event.” That suggests the movie isn’t being positioned as a straight-to-streaming release.
