On October 21, 2024, The official Young Magazine X/Twitter account posted a call for artists overseas as the company is looking for submissions for the new special edition “Young Magazine USA (tentative title)”! It is planned for an August 2025 release with submission deadlines by Monday, January 20, 2025.

The official website provides much more information on the submissions, Young Magazine is strongly looking forward to receiving applications in the following three categories which are as follows: Sci-Fi & Dark Fantasy, Horror, and works that depict the state of identity such as LGBTQ, race, ethnicity, etc. Also that if the artist has the grit, they can also submit stories from any other genre outside of the aforementioned ones from earlier. Artists who are interested in submitting their works need to have 1 chapter with the title of the manga/story and 3 pages of a sample manuscript. There is no limit to the number of pages but it should be kept in mind that there is a manuscript fee of 13,200 yen per page + tax (roughly 87.51 USD per page) which is also negotiable if you have experience in serialization.

Best of luck to all the artists and creators who are interested in giving this a shot. It is always an amazing opportunity for Japanese publishers to accept submissions from overseas artist and I cannot wait to see what titles will be announced in the future from this program.
