Tom Hardy is the latest superstar to be heading to Kickstarter. Months after Keanu Reeves' BRZRKR became the highest-grossing comics project to ever hit the crowdfunding platform, Hardy is collaborating with comic book talents to bring the yet-to-be-released ARCBOUND to the site sometime by the end of the year. This time around, ARCBOUND will only be released in a collected special edition through Kickstarter, while the series will retain its initial direct market release plans.
ARCBOUND was first announced as a new release from Dark Horse Comics earlier this year with Hardy contributing and Batman legend Scott Snyder and Iron Man scribe Frank Tieri serving as writers behind the 12-issue maxi-series. Ryan Smallman (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) is handling art duties for the series. The series will debut with its first issue through the traditional comics market beginning on November 13, 2024.

Dark Horse's Arcbound Gets a Launch Trailer
"Getting to build unique worlds that ask compelling questions about what it means to be human is both a privilege and one of my favorite parts of making comics, especially when the process is as collaborative as this book has been," Snyder said of the series, touting the expansive world the team has created for the series. "Tom Hardy, Frank, Ryan, and I have put all of our collective passion and creativity into this series."
According to Snyder, the collected edition available through Kickstarter will also include interviews with the creative team in addition to various other behind-the-scenes backing matters. It's not clear when the campaign itself will launch concerning the title's release in comic shops, which is receiving seven different variants for its initial issue. Cover artists for ARCBOUND's first issue include Smallman, Dan Panosian, Clay Mann, Tyler Kirkham, Rose Besch, and Ryan Ottley.
“I have always felt that comics are a fantastic playground for the creative process, a process I’m continuously drawn to in all aspects of storytelling. From a small creative team comes epic worlds, built together without any budget constraints— the only limitation is the team’s imagination,” Hardy added “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to work alongside such industry legends as Scott, Frank, and Ryan in helping to bring the ARCBOUND universe to life.”
Outside the fact it's a 12-issue series, little about the sci-fi comic book tale has been unveiled. A press release distributed by the creatives alludes to the "Arcbound Universe," with Arcbound Studios' CEO Nick Rose in charge of shepherding the extended universe of comic tales.
