Few things are more fascinating to a comic book lover than a crossover event. Readers of the Absolute Universe have been all the rage about seeing its wild reinventions of classic DC characters uniting since its debut in 2024.
The mega-popular imprint has seen its fair share of overlap between series during that time, of course. Yet, it appears that one of the most exciting is about to happen in Absolute Martian Manhunter.
Wonder Woman To Appear In Absolute Martian Manhunter #12
It has been confirmed that Absolute Wonder Woman shows up in Absolute Martian Manhunter #12, as confirmed in a video shared by the series' artist, Javier Rodríguez. He did not reveal what sort of role Diana plays in the highly anticipated comic, but it is clear that the Hell-raised Amazonian warrior princess blends into the illustrator's distinct style seamlessly.
Absolute Martian Manhunter scribe Deniz Camp also decided to indulge in some teasing of his own on social media. He posted a tweet indicating that Wonder Woman may not be the only character from this timeline showing up in the comic.
Camp's use of the word "all" in the tweet implies that at least three Absolute Universe characters will be brought together by this landmark chapter in the acclaimed comic book series, which could be referring to Diana, FBI agent John Jones, AND the Martian psychically bonded to him. If not, that means Absolute Martian Manhunter #12 might be an important stepping stone leading toward the eventual Absolute Universe crossover event, which the Martian is already known to play a pivotal role in.
Then again, Camp has also been very cheeky in the way he has built up excitement for the book on social media, such as when he tweeted about how all his "babies are dying at the same time," seemingly referring to both the DC title and Marvel's The Ultimates. However, when CBR interpreted that he may have spoiled that Absolute Martian Manhunter ends with a major character death, he replied in a tweet, "Could I be so careless? Yes."
Indeed, Absolute Martian Manhunter #12 is the final installment of what some have argued is the best series in the Absolute Universe so far, despite Absolute Batman typically outselling them all. How the refreshingly unique and profound take on the classic Justice Leaguer concludes is one of the hottest topics on the minds of comic book fans everywhere.
Absolute Universe Crossovers So Far
Image via DC ComicsSpeaking of the Justice League, the aforementioned, highly anticipated Absolute Universe crossover event, to be written by Absolute Superman author Jason Aaron, will essentially serve as the debut of this timeline's version of that classic team. Of course, some of these characters have already become acquainted with each other.
The first title to see multiple Absolute Universe characters in one story, namely Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, was DC All-In Special #1, which saw Darkseid create this new reality. A year later, Al Ewing, Giuseppe Camuncoli, and Stefano Nesi's one-shot Absolute Evil #1 brought the timeline's big bads together, and even saw the debut of Absolute Green Arrow.
It was two months after that when two Absolute heroes were finally seen directly interacting together in Absolute Wonder Woman #15. Writer Kelly Thompson brewed up a story that saw Diana and Bruce Wayne join forces to investigate a series of bizarre murders.
Just one month later, Absolute Universe overseer Snyder brought the duo back together again in Absolute Batman #16, in which Bruce enlists Diana's help this time. She tells the working-class version of the Dark Knight that, in order to find a cure for Waylon Jones' reptilian affliction, they will literally need to go to Hell.
Absolute Martian Manhunter #12 hits the shelves on July 1, 2026.
