For a comic book fan, putting one's collection of essential reading material on display is never enough to prove to the world how much the medium really means to them. Only when a living space is decked out with as many collectible items inspired by their favorite heroes and villains will it feel complete.
While DC Comics' Absolute Universe is still largely in its infancy, debuting in the fall of 2024, there is already plenty of merchandise available for a superfan of the mega-popular imprint to indulge in. However, one online retailer has delivered what may be the most unique line of specialty items inspired by the hit comic book franchise.
Absolute Universe Floor Mats Are Available At Program Rug
How many fans of DC's Absolute Universe can say that they have looked down at the floor in their homes and felt that it could use a mat shaped like Absolute Batman or one of his rogues? Well, for however many have encountered that thought, such a dream can easily come true.
The independent online retailer Program Rug has introduced its own line of mats inspired by Absolute Universe characters, including the Dark Knight and plenty more. There are two rugs modeled after Scott Snyder's working-class reinvention of Bruce Wayne, as well as one based on Absolute Catwoman (featuring Batman's reflection in her helmet), another shaped like Absolute Joker in his true form, and an even more terrifying Absolute Scarecrow rug.
Of course, the website offers items for those who have ventured beyond Gotham with three products based on Absolute Martian Manhunter, including rugs modeled after both the Martian and John Jones, respectively, and even a collapsible stool with a seat resembling the Martian's face. For Absolute Wonder Woman fans, Program Rug has a mat shaped like an armored Diana, which is currently sold out.
Because these products are not officially licensed through DC Comics, some of them are given strange names. For instance, the Absolute Joker rug is called "Absolute Clown" despite its demonic design, and Absolute Scarecrow's rug is simply "Absolute John," referencing his real name, Dr. Jonathan Crane. Program Rug also has plans to release mats inspired by Absolute Superman and the creator of the Absolute Universe, Darkseid.
There Is More Absolute Universe Merchandise Available
Image via DCAs established, the Absolute Universe has barely existed for two years. However, its popularity has proven immediate and intense enough to inspire all kinds of collectible items, in addition to Program Rug's floor mat line.
A visit to DC Comics' official online store reveals a treasure trove of licensed products, including scale figurines modeled after the likes of Absolute Batman and Absolute Superman, original art posters, and graphic T-shirts with which fans can show off their favorite characters in action wherever they go. That is not even counting all the Absolute Universe comic book variant covers that have boosted the heroes' visual appeal.
The most exciting development in merchandise related to the imprint, however, is the debut of Funko POP! vinyl figures modeled after the Absolute Trinity. These long-awaited additions to the sought-after pop culture collectible line will be exclusively available in limited supply at 2026's San Diego Comic-Con for $40 a piece.
As the Absolute Universe continues to expand, there is bound to be more merchandise for fans to look forward to. However, few items could create a more amusing conversation piece among fans than having a rug resembling Absolute Scarecrow's unsettling face on the floor.
