With the second season of the fan-favorite Peacemaker TV series currently in production, DC Comics has announced a brand-new comic series from the show's creator and DC co-head, James Gunn. Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature will star Peacemaker's closest allies, Vigilante and Eagly, in two stories helmed by two different creative teams.
Gunn is a story consultant for the five-issue series, which arrives next March. Tim Seely will pen the Vigilante story, with art by Mitch Gerads and letters by Pat Brosseau, while writer Rex Ogle, artist Matteo Lolli, colorist John Kalisz, and Brosseau will work on the Eagly tale. Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature's events are set between Max's Peacemaker Season 1 and 2, giving readers an idea of where the upcoming installment is headed. The Vigilante and Eagly storyline will pick up from where the first season left off, with Peacemaker missing. Gerads provides the book's main covers.

In Ogle's Eagly story, readers learn that Christopher Smith/Peacemaker has been in Alaska getting some fresh air, with his "real" best bird friend, Eagly. "On their small-plane trip, they and the other passengers are gassed and knocked out. When they wake up, they find themselves being hunted for sport by a dangerous group of Super-Villains…a far cry from the peaceful vacation Chris had in mind! But little do the hunters know they've bitten off more than they can chew," DC's description reads.
In Seely's Vigilante story, "Adrian goes to Peacemaker’s house for beers and blowing things up, but finds Chris and Eagly gone. Immediately assuming they’ve been kidnapped or worse, Vigilante suits up for a vengeance-filled spree against the local criminal community. Meanwhile, Chris and Eagly are on their bromantic vacation to Alaska, with Chris completely forgetting to ask Adrian to go…or even tell him he was gone!"

Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature's Creators Discuss the Series
Gerads discussed his love for Vigilante and Seely described their iteration of the character in the double feature. "I'm in my Vigilante era. I have 100 Taylor Swift friendship bracelets to trade—they're in Vigilante colors and say 'Vigilante S***.' Come find me at NYCC and join the fun," the artist said. "Awkward. Clueless. Possibly psychotic and obsessed with destroying furniture. That’s Mitch Gerads," Seely added playfully.
The writer continued, "Oh…wait? You mean you want me to describe Adrian Chase, Vigilante? Oh, sure. He's the coolest dude ever and he smashes so many chicks. Also, he's a great friend, and definitely not a serial-killing busboy. Peacemaker is lucky to call him 'bro,' and Mitch and I are lucky to continue his horrifically violent adventures at DC Comics."
Ogle is ecstatic to be a part of creating Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature. "When [DC editor] Katie Kubert asked me to do a short for DC's Strange Love Adventures, I was stoked to write a Peacemaker story," Ogle said. "So getting to dive back in and play with this iconic antihero again (and in a miniseries this time!) is a total dream."
Ogle continued, "Part of what makes him so great is that at his core, Peacemaker is a hopeless optimist. He wants the world to be a better place, not just for himself, but for others. He doesn’t always go about achieving peace in the right way, but he brings an incredible levity to the violence that is already ever-present in our world. And sometimes we need to laugh at the bad—so we don't break down and cry."
Lolli discussed bringing Eagly and Peacemaker to life and his collaboration with Ogle. "Bringing Peacemaker and Eagly to life in a comic is like unleashing chaos and heart on every page. Rex was able to capture their funny bond and make for a perfect mix of action and humor," he said.
"Drawing Peacemaker is obviously a blast, but capturing a character that doesn’t speak? Not easy. And what if this character happens to be a bird to whom nature gave by default a stern and angry look? That’s a whole other challenge, and I wasn’t sure I could deliver it without the right kind of script. Luckily for me, Rex did a fantastic job with it. It's pure fun to see their unpredictable dynamic unleashed in this new adventure," the artist added.
Peacemaker Presents: The Vigilante/Eagly Double Feature #1 will arrive in comic book shops in March 2025.
