DCU’s Next Big Idea? A Mockuseries ‘The People v. Gorilla Grodd’

DC Studios and HBO announced a straight-to-series order for The People vs Gorilla Grodd, the title for the long-rumored Jimmy Olsen show. The announcement came with lots of extra information including naming the showrunners, Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of the 2017 Netflix true crime mocumentary series American Vandal. Which works out well as this series will also be a true crime mocumentary as Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) directs a series for the Daily Planet focused on the biggest murder trail in Metropolis history, that of Gorilla Grodd who was convicted of murdering his father, King Grodd. Playing Gorilla Grodd will be Jimmy Tatro, the star of American Vandal season one. The show will also bring back members of the Daily Planet team we met in Superman including Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. New additions to the cast include Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds and Tim Baltz.
