Deadpool & Wolverine has officially passed Joker to become the top-grossing R-rated film in movie history.

On its 23rd day of release, the latest film from Marvel Studios hit $1.086 billion worldwide, surpassing the $1.078 billion of Todd Phillips’ 2019 film which is getting its own sequel in October. These are also the only 2 R-rated films to ever break the billion-dollar mark.

It’s also the second film this year to do so, with Disney’s Inside Out 2 being the first, now sitting at $1.558 billion. Studio head, Kevin Feige, released a statement saying:

“Thanks for making Marvel Studios’ first R-rated movie the biggest of all time. It’s fantastic to see that audiences are loving this movie as much as we all loved making it. All those conversations were worth it!”

:Conversations: – haha. More like struggle sessions. Thankfully, Ryan Reynolds prevailed.
