Disney Drops Untitled ‘Star Wars’ Film from 2026 Release Schedule

Disney has removed the December 18th, 2026, Star Wars film from their release schedule and replaced it with Ice Age 6, according to reporting from Deadline. The current status of the franchise seems to be up in the air as Simon Kinberg recently made a deal to develop a trilogy of films that are supposed to be Episodes 10 – 12 of the Skywalker Saga. However, nothing has been confirmed. We’ve previously reported on announcements that Kinberg was doing a Star Trek prequel, and a new Battlestar Galactica project. So take all this with a grain of salt.

Previously it was said that a new series of Rey (Daisy Ridley) led films were in the works, but that project recently lost its writer and it’s not clear if Kinberg’s project is the Rey project nor if the removed film was to be part of that. Others were certain that the Rey film was the uncertain project from avowed feminist director Shareem Obaid-Chinoy. While projects like Andor season 2, Skeleton Crew and the Mandalorian and Grogu movie are still on track.

Its unknown how all of this will affect other announced projects by James Mangold, Taika Waititi and Donald Glover.  We suspect most of them won’t happen either.
