“One World Under Doom”

In the wake of Doctor Doom taking the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange has been left without purpose and shamed. With Earth under the protection of a new steward, Strange travels to Asgard seeking new opportunities. For you see, a man with no future can bring his downfall faster than any disease.

After a wholesome reunion between fellow Avengers, the All-Father, Thor Odinson, has granted Doctor Strange permission to seek out the title Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard. But there are many roadblocks standing in his way. First, Stephen must convince the chief skald of his worth. That, and the whereabouts of the branch of Yggdrasil he had stolen a year prior.

Does Stephen Strange have what it takes to become the leading sorcerer in a world driven by strength in combat? Will Hulda the Skald consent to a Midgardian holding the title of Sorcerer Supreme of Asgard? Is Loki Laufeyson still banished from the realm he helped destroy? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

I absolutely loved volume six of Doctor Strange and was sad to see it end. Jed MacKay did a wonderful job writing for that series throughout, but it seems all good things come to an end. Now, writer Derek Landy has picked up the bataan and started out strong with his new miniseries, Doctor Strange of Asgard.

This was a fun introduction to the new Asgardian realm and its people. I have to say, they have really downplayed their superior technology for a more Medieval Times restaurant feel. May I have some grogg, my lady? If you are a fan of  Doctor Strange or Thor comic books, you will want to check this series out. I give issue #01 four out of five stars.
