Growing up in rural Iowa as a reluctant reader, it all changed when he started reading the original Fantastic Four by Lee/Kirby. Now Austin can't stop reading. He has written about comics for Comic Book Yeti and he has also written tons of indie comics, best known for Big Guns Stupid Rednecks.

The long-running sci-fi epic Doctor Who is back in a massive multimedia event called Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker. This brand-new event will include new comics published by Titan Comics.

Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 – Adversary of the Daleks kicks off the all-new event. The story will cover The Doctor's first encounter with Daleks. In an official press release, Titan Comics shares more about the upcoming story: "In Adversary of the Daleks, the Doctor arrives in Thessaloniki in Ancient Greece, where she discovers that even the gods fear strange visitors from across the universe."

The Circuit Breaker event will include comics, novels, audio dramas, and games. Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 – Adversary of the Daleks is written by Dan Watters and Dulce M. Montoya with art by Roberta Ingranata, Sami Kivelä, and Valentina Bianconi. It features several variant covers by Jay Anccleto, and Robert Sienicki, and also includes a photo variant and a "color your own" variant cover.

Since the Doctor's inception in 1963, the character has gone on to have 892 episodes over 42 seasons. The franchise has released many different comics, novels, games, and other media. The Circuit Breaker event will dive into all of these different media in which the Doctor has already been featured.

The Fugitive Doctor (played by Jo Martin) takes center stage in this new comic. The Fugitive Doctor was introduced to fans in 2020. See interacted with the Thirteenth Doctor and shook up the universe's lore. The Thirteenth Doctor never remembered being the Fugitive Doctor, opening up the series to an entirely new realm of possibilities. The Fugitive Doctor is extremely important for being the first on-screen Black incarnation of everyone's favorite Time Lord.

The Daleks have to be the most iconic and evil villains in the Doctor Who franchise. The Daleks are cyborgs inside an almost indestructible metal. Inside their shell, they are very much like a mutated squid.

Besides crossing over with himself, the Doctor has had many memorable crossovers inside the pages of a comic. The Doctor has crossed over with Star Trek, Captain America, and even Iron Man. The Eleventh Doctor teamed up with Captain Picard to take on the Borg in a 2012 crossover published by IDW Publishing.

The Doctor Who franchise has the potential to be a forever ongoing program without falling into the issues many others have. With the Doctor's ability to regenerate, the character can continue without ever going stale. It works fantastically in the sci-fi realm, and fans will never have to ask how long a character can remain the same age as they might with caped comic book heroes.

Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker #1 – Adversary of the Daleks is available July 8 wherever comic books are sold.
