BOOM! Studios has announced a brand-new horror comic series from rising star writer Gus Moreno — When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee #1 will hit comic book shelves in January.
The publisher released a first-look preview of the upcoming comic featuring the stellar art of the series illustrator Jakub Rebelka (Cyberpunk). Rebelka joins Moreno for the book described as a mesmerizing descent into hell that combines a "gritty police procedural with the iconography of religious horror." Series writer Moreno is best known for his award-winning debut novel This Thing Between Us. In addition to Rebelka's main cover, When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee #1 will feature variant covers by acclaimed artists Jacob Phillips (That Texas Blood), InHyuk Lee (Mighty Morphin), Jae Lee and June Chung (The Dark Tower).

BOOM! Studios' When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee description reads, "Father Barrera is a disgraced priest, haunted by his part in the tragic death of an innocent child. When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee series writer Moreno discussed BOOM! Studios' latest horror comic series. "On an island at the edge of the world, where exorcists are also detectives, demonic possession is only half the story," he said. "When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee combines the gritty police procedural with the iconography of religious horror, where nothing is what it seems, and what you think you know may end up putting your soul in peril," the author added.
When I Lay My Vengeance Upon Thee joins an impressive lineup of acclaimed original series published by BOOM!
