Dark Horse Comics has revealed that Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden are set to return to the Hellboy Universe's take on Frankenstein with a new four-part miniseries. Thomas Sniegoski, Peter Bergting, Michelle Madsen and Clem Robins join Mignola and Golden for the new story. Frankenstein: New World - The Sea of Forever is a thrilling new chapter in the world of Hellboy starring the legendary Frankenstein's Monster.
The character first appeared in 2011's Hellboy: House of the Living Dead and has gone on to be an important figure in Hellboy's universe. After the world ended, Frankenstein's monster even took it upon himself to help the last remaining humans learn to survive in Hollow Earth before sleeping for one thousand years. The first issue of Frankenstein: New World - The Sea of Forever is expected to be released in 2025.

In 2022, Dark Horse released the first Frankenstein: New World comics, which told the story of a young girl named Lilja who woke Frankenstein from his slumber to embark on an epic quest to the surface world. Now, in The Sea of Forever, Frankenstein and Lilja will continue to navigate the treacherous surface world, and the series solicit teases that they will be stalked by an ancient and familiar evil.

Frankenstein: New World Writers Tease the Continuation of Hellboy's World
In Dark Horse's press release announcing the new Frankenstein story, co-writers Christopher Golden and Thomas Sniegoski spoke about where The Sea of Forever picks up and how it continues after the end of Hellboy's world to tell a new and unique story. "I am ridiculously excited about this series! Hellboy’s world may be over, but its echoes ripple through the New World, as you’ll discover in The Sea of Forever.” Golden said. "There’s room for so many unique stories in this series. At the same time, Frankenstein and Lilja’s journey has a destination, and we can’t wait to bring you there!"
