Fantastic Four: Foes #1-6 (2005)

An interesting idea: Tell some stories from the villain point of view. Sort of. The emphasis on the narratives in each of these six issues is to focus on the villains as they attack the FF. The through line story is that Reed Richards does some “analysis” and discovers that the Fantastic Four will be dead in two years if they keep fighting villains at the current rate.

So, they decide to proactively catch ’em all and stick ’em in a Negative Zone prison.

Each issue ratchets up the stakes until the big prison break in issue #6 that has over a dozen foes.

This was a high-concept miniseries where the idea was better than the execution. The continuity across the issues was weak and the individual battles were not all that inspired. Also not a huge fan of the art, and the jokes are lackluster.

Everyone involved was capable of better than this.
