Galactus Actor Claps Back After Rob Liefeld’s Latest MCU Dig

Comics creator Rob Liefeld’s relationship with Marvel has continued to sour after new disputes over how the company has handled the character Deadpool. Liefeld, best known for co-creating Deadpool, Cable, and Domino, has grown vocal about his frustration with Marvel Studios and the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.

His criticism drew attention again this week when he mocked the visual effects in The Fantastic Four: First Steps on social media. That prompted a response from actor Ralph Ineson, who plays Galactus in the film. Ineson replied by suggesting that the MCU “lives rent free” in Liefeld’s head. As of now, Liefeld has not responded to Ineson’s remark.

Not everyone was on Ineson’s side.

Following the exchange, Liefeld posted again, calling the MCU “the single biggest fail of 2025” and accusing Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige of being “washed.” He added that “Doomsical Chairs can’t get here fast enough,” referring to the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Liefeld’s history with the company stretches back decades. His early work helped shape some of Marvel’s best-known mutant titles before he left to co-found Image Comics in the 1990s. Deadpool first appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the 2016 Deadpool movie made the character a major box office draw, while rights to the film were still under 20th Century Fox. Disney’s later purchase of Fox allowed Marvel Studios to bring Deadpool into the MCU, leading to 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Before that film’s release, Liefeld said on his Robservations podcast that he had asked Marvel Studios for more prominent credit for creating Deadpool. He later claimed that Disney executives “screamed at” his representatives after the request. Liefeld ultimately received the standard “created by” credit during the end credits and was invited to the premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, though he says he was not allowed to attend the afterparty. He also claimed that photos he took with the film’s creative team were later deleted.

Liefeld announced earlier this year that he would no longer be working with Marvel, with his last comic being February’s Deadpool Team-Up #5.

After Deadpool 2 in 2018, star Ryan Reynolds said he doubted a third solo film would happen, expecting a possible X-Force project instead. Disney’s acquisition of Fox changed that, bringing Deadpool and other X-Men characters into the MCU and leading Hugh Jackman to return from retirement as Wolverine.

Even with the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel Studios has shifted focus to Avengers: Doomsday, slated for release in December 2026. Reynolds is expected to appear in the film, though his exact role remains unknown. He is also rumored to return for Avengers: Secret Wars, but that has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios.
