Ghost Rider Rides Into Marvel’s 2028 Movie Slate

Marvel Studios is bringing Ghost Rider back to theaters, and Ryan Gosling will play the Spirit of Vengeance. The untitled MCU movie is scheduled for July 28, 2028, giving Marvel a major action film for the first full year after the Multiverse Saga. Gosling will reunite with Shawn Levy, who directed him in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter. Levy previously directed Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine, which became a major box-office success in 2024. Jonathan Tropper, who also wrote Star Wars: Starfighter, is writing the Ghost Rider script. Marvel confirmed the project during its 2026 San Diego Comic-Con presentation. The studio has not revealed the film’s official title, full cast, plot or exact place in the MCU timeline. Marvel did confirm that Gosling will lead the movie, while reports identify his character as Johnny Blaze. The new film will mark Ghost Rider’s first live-action feature appearance since Nicolas Cage played Johnny Blaze in Ghost Rider and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
