IDW is set to release yet another brand-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series this year.
Per Bleeding Cool, screenwriter Andrew Joustra will be helming one of two brand-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series slated to arrive on comic book store shelves this October. Joustra will be writing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus, which will presumably stand as a follow-up or tie-in to the 2004 video game of the same name.

The release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus #1 will reportedly come alongside the launch of a brand-new volume of the beloved Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. As of the time of writing, no details regarding any writers or artists attached to the latter title have been made available. There are also no current details available regarding specific release dates for either series.
Joustra holds numerous screenwriting credits, including on 2017's Smurfs: The Lost Village and 2023's Assassin starring Bruce Willis. Joustra was also credited for 2023's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, which is currently set to receive a sequel of its own in 2027. Joustra's next upcoming project, the animated short Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Chrome Alone 2 - Lost in New Jersey, was directed by Kent Seki, who worked in visual effects on films such as 2008's Iron Man and who served as previs director on films including 2021's The Boss Baby.

IDW Publishing is turning its attention to a classic team of teenage mutant superheroes for a new comic book series, and it isn't the Ninja Turtles.
Developed by Konami, 2004's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus was set within the timeline of the 2003 animated series and served as the direct follow-up to the TMNT game that was released the previous year. Despite introducing new support systems for multi-player experiences and a wide range of new playable characters, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Battle Nexus was met with largely negative-to-middling reviews upon its release. The game primarily adapted the events of the second season of the animated series, which saw the Turtles uncover the truth behind the Shredder's interstellar origins.
