Comic legend Jack Kirby will be the subject of a definitive documentary titled Kirbyvision, Variety reports exclusively. Acclaimed filmmaker Ricki Stern (Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work) will direct, with Emmy winners Dan and Josh Braun of Submarine Entertainment producing under their Submarine Deluxe banner alongside Mike Cecchini, Ron Fogelman, and Chris Longo. The Braun brothers previously produced The Andy Warhol Diaries and the true-crime hit Wild Wild Country.
Comic Legend Kirby Created Iconic Marvel, DC Characters

Kirby is considered one of the comic book's most prolific pioneers. He co-created Captain America with Joe Simon in 1941, featuring the superhero punching Hitler on the first issue's cover months before America entered WWII. Throughout his remarkable six-decade career, Kirby created or co-created numerous iconic characters and teams, including the Avengers, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and X-Men.
"If there were a Mount Rushmore of 20th-century pop culture luminaries, Jack Kirby should be the first one carved into the mountain," Emmy winner Dan Braun stated.
After his Marvel departure, Kirby landed at DC Comics where he continued to innovate. Notably, his ambitious "Fourth World" saga, featuring Darkseid and Mister Miracle, was pivotal in comic books' evolution into modern myth.

The documentary chronicles Kirby's journey from Depression-era poverty through WWII service to his work across superheroes, romance, war, westerns, sci-fi, and horror. The Rosalind Kirby Family Trust has also granted the creative team access to Kirby's archives, including previously unseen documents, home movies, and art.
"We are thrilled to work with such a dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable team of filmmakers. The legacy of Jack Kirby is in good hands, as Ricki, Dan, Josh, Ron, Mike, Chris and their team share the same creative energy that helped my father create boundless universes of characters that continue to inspire us and shape our imaginations." - Lisa Kirby, Jack Kirby's daughter.
The Jack Kirby Museum and Research Center is also officially collaborating on the production, its director, Randolph Hoppe, noting that "Now is the perfect time to tell the complete story of the man whose imagination and craft continue to ignite and shape the dreams of new generations."
