Perhaps it may seem a little strange for me to be writing some form of report on a two-day programming-driven festival that I was only at for day one. But if that appears an idiosyncratic approach then it’s very much aligned with the general vibe of small press comics fest Caption which returned to Seacourt Hall in Botley, Oxford again this year after its revival in 2025 following a several year hiatus. Caption is quite unlike any other comics event I have ever been to. And it’s fair to say I have been to one or two. It’s a smaller do, largely focussed on the events, and with just one communal table staffed by volunteers where everyone can put their work for sale. The panels and workshops are what it’s really all about and I was delighted to be able to attend and promote BF’s work in the community on not one but two of those this year. Thank you to the Caption team for giving us the opportunity.
