Mark Hamill Criticizes Trump, Apologizes to Canada Amid Election Results

Mark Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker, has intensified his criticism of Donald Trump, recently apologizing to Canada as Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party won Monday’s federal election.

On Bluesky, Hamill wrote: “Dear Canada. Please accept our deepest apologies from all decent Americans embarrassed by the obnoxious trolling from our man-baby-in-chief who is lacking in both intelligence & any impulse-control whatsoever. From your neighbors below,” adding the hashtag #MakeAmericaNormalAgain.

This follows earlier posts where Hamill shared a meme stating “For Godsake Just Die” without directly naming Trump. “Amazing that without even mentioning a name, EVERYONE knows exactly who it’s referencing,” he wrote.

Hamill’s remarks coincide with Carney’s victory speech, where the Canadian leader claimed U.S.-Canada relations have deteriorated under Trump. “We no longer share an ironclad partnership dating back to World War II,” Carney said, blaming Trump for escalating tensions.

While Hamill remains a vocal Trump critic, his approach has drawn mixed reactions. Critics argue his blunt style overshadows substantive discourse, with some calling it unnecessarily divisive. Supporters view it as a justified response to Trump’s rhetoric. The actor’s political activity-including endorsing Kamala Harris and mocking Trump’s policies-reflects his long-standing Democratic advocacy. However, his recent tone has alienated fans who believe celebrities should avoid inflammatory language.

It’s just too much to expect Hamill to embody the hopeful spirit of Luke Skywalker anymore. His current political engagement leans so heavily into partisan attacks, leaving more and more of his supporters disillusioned by his bizarre shift from inspirational storytelling to polarizing rhetoric.
