The Avengers are getting a new leader for Marvel Comics' Avengers: Armageddon, and he couldn't be better at what he does.
The latest round of Marvel Comics solicits for the year has arrived, and August is quickly shaping up to be one of the most explosive months of 2026 for comic book fans. While Earth's Mightiest Heroes are set to be caught in the midst of Armageddon, they will also be getting a new leader, and Wolverine doesn't look like he will have any trouble assembling the Avengers for the next biggest fight of their lives when Avengers: Armageddon #3 arrives later this year.

The official solicit synopsis for Avengers: Armageddon #3 from Marvel Comics reads, "With the rest of the world turning against the Avengers, what will they choose? What is Marvel's Avengers: Armageddon?
Image via Marvel ComicsMarvel Comics' upcoming Armageddon event has been teased for months, with details slowly being revealed regarding what exactly Armageddon will entail. One of the key elements of the event is the emergence of the Origin Boxes from the Ultimate Universe of Earth-6160 in the primary Marvel Universe of Earth-616. Rather than falling into the hands of the heroes they were designed for, these Origin Boxes will give rise to some truly horrifying new villains.
Readers can also look forward to some truly shocking team-ups in the months to come, as the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe get ready for Armageddon. Perhaps the most surprising of these will be the team-up between Captain America and Doctor Doom, who will have to fight alongside one another if they want to survive long enough to save the world from its next-biggest threat, or even have any hope of making it back to a home they recognize.
Writer Chip Zdarsky previously touched on what fans can expect from Avengers: Armageddon, particularly with General Thunderbolt Ross' current reign as the ruler of Latveria. "I mean, it's a Hulk with the tactical ability of a U.S. General and some deep-seated trauma from imprisonment in a foreign country," Zdarsky explained. "There's a lot to play with there, and right now, General Ross has some very specific ideas of what the world should be. How do you stop a guy with that level of power and forethought?"
"It's going to be pretty fractured, but when things are looking dark, someone will always step up. But what they'll face will be wildly unexpected." Zdarsky added, "Sorry, that's vague, I know. But man, oh man, I'm pretty excited for people to see where we're going!
