Marvel Redesigns Iron Man and Captain America for a New Era

Earth's Mightiest Heroes are getting entirely new looks ahead of the release of the next breakout hit fighting game and its explosive tie-in Marvel comic book.

Marvel Comics has unveiled the full main cover art and official solicit synopsis for Marvel Tōkon: First Strike #1, an upcoming one-shot anthology that will give readers a glimpse into the world of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls just one day before the game arrives. Marvel Tōkon: First Strike #1 is set to feature stories by all-star writers, including Tom Waltz and Steve Orlando, and will include what are sure to be some of the most action-packed battles that fans have ever seen.

Developed by Arc System Works and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set to arrive this Fall, and will drop some of Marvel fans' favorite characters into the middle of a new 4v4 tag-team fighting experience. The game's story involves something of a classic Secret Wars-style battle royale, this time one organized by the Champion of the Universe himself.

What is Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls?

Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set to feature 20 different playable characters at launch, with multiple iconic Marvel teams represented among them. These will include Avengers like Iron Man and Captain America, X-Men such as Storm and Wolverine, and the "Amazing Guardians," which is currently comprised of Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, and Peni Parker. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls players will also get to step into the shoes of the likes of Doctor Doom and Robbie Reyes, better known as the Ghost Rider.

Although Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls looks to be a far different kind of gaming experience, fans have high hopes for the title following the widespread success of Marvel Rivals from Marvel Games and NetEase Games. Released in 2024, Marvel Rivals brought the heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe into the realm of hero shooters for the very first time, and has proven to be a massive hit in the time since.

Marvel Tōkon: First Strike #1 from Marvel Comics goes on sale August 5. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls from Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment arrives on PlayStation 5 and Windows on August 6.
