I wish someone would tell the big two that my April Fools article was just a joke. That it wasn’t actually meant to be used as a blueprint, but they seem to be following it to a tee. Case in point, Marvel is now taking the legacy of Doom, Kristoff, and making him gay. Or bisexual. Or whatever. But this time it’s a two-fer! Now they get to satisfy their racial fetishization by turning this ‘alternate universe’ Killmonger gay as well!

Yeah, yeah, I see the knife in the back. And its a ‘alternate universe’. But come on. This is modern Marvel Comics. We know that this isn’t a one-off thing, but the norm from this issue forward. Don’t be surprised when Kristoff returns to the 616 and confront the real Killmonger about his repressed sexuality.
Here is the solicitation:
“KILLMONGER STRIKES! Is this a sign of budding romance? Or MURDER? The pieces are falling into place, and the team is ready for their true mission to begin. But who is playing who?”
This is what Marvel is about these days. It’s nothing but LGBT relationships, people sitting around eating food, and petty drama. At this point, who isn’t gay in Marvel? Seriously, have you taken a look at the sheer number of gay characters currently in Marvel right now? According to Marvel Database, counting all the universes they use as storyline crutches, there are 399 entries!
I find this sudden gay switch annoying because Kristoff was actually a good character. While not well known, he was the Dr. Doom when I first started reading comics. Recognizing his genius, Dr. Doom kidnapped him as a child. After being brainwashed, and although just a child, he thought he was Dr. Doom while hiding in his armor, notably, wearing the hood back.
Anytime Doom was away, Kristoff would fill in until he usurped the title, believing he was the real Doom who was trapped in a child’s body. This actually led to a great civil war between the two before the real Dr. Doom shut him down.
Perhaps they are exploring this dynamic in One World Under Doom, but Marvel just couldn’t help bringing Kristoff’s sexuality into the storyline. This is why I said nearly a year ago that mainstream comics need to die. I’ll keep using the turd in your food analogy. Sure, you can eat some excellent food around the poop, but inevitably you will eat the crap. No matter how good the dish is, the poop will always ruin it. Until these hack cultists are run out of mainstream comics, they will always put their ideology into stories.
