Marvel’s X-Men Decline Has Been Going On for Years

Collider argues that Marvel is now failing the X-Men, as if it hadn’t already happened, though it’s interesting they take issue with one of the most overrated, pretentious leftist writers of modern times, Gail Simone, in their look at what she wrote in recent X-Men stories. The article doesn’t begin well: Comic books have come a long way since their advent in 1933, but they have evolved significantly over the last ten years as the industry has grappled with writing stories in a post-Comicsgate era. Still, some of the most celebrated titles have found themselves falling into familiar and oftentimes uncomfortable patterns. When the writer starts subtly blaming Comicsgate, something’s obviously gone wrong. That’s just a distraction reducing the seriousness of the subject.
