Marvel Comics have announced Storm: Lifedream, a Voices special intended to mark Black History Month in February, and the 50th anniversary of the character’s first appearance in 1975’s Giant-Size X-Men #1. Contributors will include writers Angélique Roché, Curtis Baxter, Brittney Morris, and John Jennings, as well as artists Karen S. Darboe, Edwin Galmon, and more who’ll be confirmed at a later date.

When intergalactic historians attempt to update their records on one of the most famous X-Men in multiversal history, they’ll find a woman too powerful to contain – and risk unleashing a side of her no one’s seen before! Experience a whirlwind journey across Storm’s most iconic eras as a malevolent entity threatens to corrupt her legacy!

Like other Marvel’s Voices specials, the book has an all-Black line-up of creators. Roché is the creator of the Marvel’s Voices podcast, and previously worked with Jennings on the Marvel history book My Super Hero is Black; Jennings also previously contributed to the company’s Silver Surfer: Ghost Light, Marvel Super Stories, and this year’s Marvel’s Voices: Legends special.

Curtis Baxter is an Afro-Caribbean animation and video game writer, who made his Marvel Comics debut in this year’s Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual, while Brittney Morris wrote the prose novel Spider-Man: Miles Morales — Wings of Fury, a prequel to the 2020 Insomniac Games release. Karen S. Darboe penciled Bloodline: Daughter of Blade, and various other Marvel’s Voices comics, including 2024’s Avengers Academy Infinity Comic, while Edwin Galmon has worked primarily for Marvel on covers; this will mark his first interior work for the publisher.

Storm: Lifedream #1 will be released on January 29, 2025, with a main cover by Taurin Clarke, and a variant by Lucas Werneck, the artist on Storm’s current solo ongoing series, which you can check out below. In the meantime, the first two issues of her main solo series, written by Murewa Ayodele, are available digitally and from comic book stores now, while the third issue will be released on December 11.
