Posted on August 11, 2026 by Neil Cole McFarlane Toys is revisiting one of the most unusual chapters in Superman’s comic book history with its new DC Multiverse Collector Edition Superman Blue vs. Superman Red 2-Pack. The set brings the two energy-powered incarnations of the Man of Steel to collectors as highly detailed 7-inch figures inspired by the character’s transformation during a 1998 storyline. The Superman Red and Superman Blue saga began after Superman developed energy-based abilities that required him to wear a containment suit to prevent his powers from dispersing. In the February 1998 Superman Red/Superman Blue one-shot, a trap created by Cyborg Superman and Toyman split Superman into two separate beings, each believing himself to be the original. Superman Blue represented Superman’s more cerebral nature, relying on thought and strategy, while Superman Red was more impulsive and decisive. The two eventually grew apart before reuniting after a battle with the Millennium Giants, restoring Superman to his original powers and familiar costume.
