One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.
Finally, the Blue Bomber is back. It's not been the best stretch of time for Mega Man over the past several years, though things might soon change for the franchise when Mega Man: Dual Override arrives on Steam and consoles in 2027, on life support fueled by the well-received Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection nearly three years ago.
When it comes to comic books, however, the world has craved a dynamic production for Capcom's diminutive but powerful cannon-armed character that helped establish Nintendo and Capcom as superpowers in the gaming world.
Udon Entertainment is looking to change Mega Man's trajectory though, effective Fall 2026, in conjunction with Lunar Distribution. That is when the partnership will unveil Mega Man: Gear Masters, a four-issue mini-series that serves as Udon's first-ever comic book production with Mega Man as the headliner.

Mega Man Is Finally Back, And With Major Firepower
Per the official synopsis: "Mega Man returns in UDON’s first mini-series starring the classic Blue Bomber! With the threat of a new batch of robot masters, Dr. Light has upgraded Mega Man using the prototype Double Gear system. Problem is, Dr. Wily (the Double Gear’s creator) wants it back… by any means!! It’s all-out rumbling robot action in Mega Man: Gear Masters!"
This news has to make fans of the franchise smile from ear to ear, given what Mega Man has been up against lately in trying to return to the level that made him a household name decades ago.
And, for what it's worth, Udon is pulling out all the stops for this one.
The World Needs More of Mega Man
"UDON will also offer two store-exclusive editions through its online storefront," writes NoisyPixel about the upcoming release. "The first is a Roll Fashion Edition cover illustrated by Keenbiscuit that includes an exclusive collectible metal card featuring artwork by Tavis Maiden."
They continued: "The second is a Shantae Cosplay Variant cover. UDON confirmed that its ongoing Roll Fashion variant program will continue throughout the mini-series, with each issue featuring a new outfit design and matching collectible metal card."
The last time a standalone, not a collective, Mega Man game hit shelves and digital stores was in 2018. Yes, time flies, and it's been nearly eight years since we've gotten our hands on Mega Man 11, with Mega Man: Dual Override serving as Capcom's official 12th installment — nine years later; and there hasn't been a Mega Man television or streaming series since ... exactly.
That is all so unforgivable, and hopefully Mega Man: Gear Masters in 2026 can combine with Mega Man: Dual Override in 2027 to create a new momentum for Capcom's franchise that won't ever again come to a halt.
