Mel Gibson is Back! Check Out His New ‘Hunting Season’ Trailer

Mel Gibson is a legend.  We would have featured Mel’s movies in Toxic Masculinity Tuesday, but everyone already knows about Mel’s testosterone-filled movies such as Lethal Weapon, Mad Max, Braveheart, Ransom, The Patriot, Payback…the list can go on, but you get it. Mel Gibson knows how to play a tough-guy role. 

Now, Mel is back starring in the action thriller Hunting Season! The trailer also stars Jordi Mollà, and I’ve always liked him in the villain role since his turn as Diego in Blow.

Sofia Hublitz stars as Mel’s daughter Tag, which is a strange coincidence since I just finished watching her performance in Ozark.

Here is the synopsis for Hunting Season:

When a reclusive survivalist and his daughter rescue a mysterious, wounded woman from a river, they become entangled in a deadly web of violence and revenge, forcing them to confront a brutal criminal to survive.

The premise is simple but it works. Protecting others is what men do, and Mel’s gravitas could propel Hunting Season as a must-watch. It’s a shame that there is a dearth of action stars to replace those from the 80s, but Mel Gibson is still kicking and this role as father figure and protector appears to match him to a tee.
