New ‘Crystal Lake’ Trailer Sets Up the Friday the 13th Origin

Crystal Lake heads back to the start of the Friday the 13th story, and a new trailer puts Pamela Voorhees at the center of the bloodshed. The Peacock original series begins in the summer of 1971, before the events of the 1980 slasher film. Linda Cardellini plays Pam Voorhees, a local waitress whose son Jason has apparently drowned in Crystal Lake. The trailer uses Blue Öyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” while showing the mother’s grief turning into violence. “Crystal Lake don’t give up her dead,” one character warns her. The original Friday the 13th revealed that Jason’s mother, not Jason himself, was the killer behind the murders at Camp Crystal Lake. Jason then made his famous appearance in the final moments, bursting from the lake. Betsy Palmer played Pamela Voorhees in that film.
