Ryan Smith is located just south of Boston and is a lifelong fan of movies, comics, music and all things pop culture... and pro wrestling, but don't hold that against him.

Robert Kirkman's Invincible universe continues to grow and expand in impressive ways that constantly leave readers impatiently waiting for more. Capes, in particular, has proven to be a runaway hit and doesn't seem to be slowing down any time soon.

Capes #7 marks yet another milestone for the Invincible universe after having only just been published on May 27. Within days, Capes #7 has done something some books never do — it has officially sold out. With that comes yet another reason to check out the newest entry in the Invincible universe — as if comic fans needed another.

Capes #7's First Printing Has Officially Sold Out

Skybound and Image Comics have recently revealed that Capes #7 — the newest entry in the Invincible universe — has officially sold out at the distributor level. The newest issue from writer Benito Cereno, artist/colorist Mark Englert, and letterer Rus Wooton will return to comic book shops with a special second printing on June 24, 2026. "Capes issue #7 has already sold out? Is that what you're saying to me?" Robert Kirkman asked, "Well, we should probably get started on a 2nd printing right now, shouldn't we? Oh, the cover's done? Wow. That looks cool. Well, when does the press release go out? Oh."

To meet this incredible fan demand, Capes #7 will not disappoint — accompanying its return in June, Capes #7 will receive a brand-new cover. And this cover isn't coming from just anybody. Nameless' Chris Burnham and colorist Brian Reber of Invincible fame will be behind the work of art gracing the second printing.

In Capes #7, the most unexpected corner of the Invincible universe will see Benito Cereno and Mark Englert introduce the biggest mission in Capes history. Invincible himself is off-planet, fighting the Viltrumite War and the new Guardians of the Globe, taking on The Order. Now's the time for Capes, Inc. to become the face of superpowered crime-fighting. But could Bolt have already made one crucial mistake that could wind up dooming Capes?

The series focuses on the more ground-level work of Capes, Inc. This privately owned company employs superheroes to protect New York when some of the more notable heroes are busy with mind-bending galactic threats.

Capes #7 Introduces Invincible VS Original Ella Mental To the Comics Universe

It has to be assumed that a major reason for Capes #7's immediate roaring success is — at least in part — due to the first comic appearance of Ella Mental. In a reversal of how things usually work in the comic world, Ella Mental first debuted in the recently released Invincible VS video game. It quickly became a fan favorite among the gamers who play with her against the more established Invincible roster.

In Capes #7, Invincible creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker return to tell the first chapter of Ella Mental's origin story. While a short backup story on the back of the issue, it seems readers will finally get let in on why Ella has the unique element-centric powers she got her hero name from. With a striking final image that is sure to leave readers wanting more, the Ella Mental origin story promises to deliver a fascinating look at the newest hero to join the ever-growing Invincible universe.

Capes #7 returns with its second printing on June 24 alongside a fourth printing of Capes #1 and a second printing of Capes #6.
