EC Comics returns to the war zone with another anthology comic through Oni Press. Shell Shock #1 is a 56-page one-shot that hits comic shops this August.
Shell Shock #1 is the latest in a series reviving classic EC Comics titles through Oni Press. Oni has already released several issues of Epitaphs From the Abyss and Cruel Universe. These anthology comics are beginning to cover nearly every genre imaginable.

War Has Always Existed in Comic Book Form

Founded in 1944, EC Comics was known for its anthology comic book series. Legends of the industry worked on them, including Steve Ditko, Wally Wood, and Harvey Kurtzman. This revamped incarnation has featured some of the top creators in today’s industry, including Jason Aaron, Matt Kindt, and Stephanie Phillips.
Though war comics haven’t been prominent in recent years, they were once extremely popular. Titles like Sgt. Rock, The 'Nam, Blazing Combat, and Enemy Ace are considered by fans to be among the gold standard of the genre. It was only a matter of time before war stories would be on the shelves of comic book stores again.
Shell Shock #1 explores the horrors of war from a more human standpoint, understanding the long-lasting consequences of those forced to take on the terror of the front lines. Perhaps it's time to pick up one of the most compelling modern war comics and regain touch with the subgenre one again.
