Pinoy Power!: A Celebration of Filipino Komiks from the Archipelago to the Bay exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco ran from Dec. 23, 2023 to Sept. 8, 2024. Rina Ayuyang co-curated the contemporary exhibiting artists who were: Donna Almendrala (my apologies to Ms. Almendrala for not taking photos of her work to include in this photo report), Rina Ayuyang, Lynda Barry, Martin Cendreda, Trinidad Escobar, Tintin Pantoja and Bong Redila. Manuel Quad and Andrew Farago co-curated the other half, which focused on the first wave of Filipino artists immigrating to the United States. They are: Alfredo Alcala, Rudy Nebres, and Alex Niño, among others. I really enjoyed this exhibit, as it covered a range of notable Filipino cartoonists and artists' eras. Thank you to the Cartoon Art Museum of San Francisco for showcasing this treasure trove of Filipino comics for others to discover and enjoy!
