“Red Sonja”

The Hyrkanian City-State of Razadan was notorious for the thieves’ guild who influenced everything from commerce to politics within the crumbling walls of the dominion. A reputation rightly earned and sung about in taverns as far away as the port city of Kyros. So, when key figures inside the larcenous sodality cried foul, their guild master listened with great concern.

In one brash endeavor, a red-haired defalcator of stunning beauty relieved several guild members of their gold and jewelry. Inside a guild tavern, nonetheless! Who was this interloper to practice the art of Bel without sanctioned approval?! Katura and Nusair will make the one called Sonja pay for her disrespect. If it kills them or not!

Will Red Sonja pay respect to the local guild master or die for her childish arrogance? Why is Princess Ala Selli set on defying her father’s wishes? Who is the Prince Kevar of the Royal House of Dimmar, anyway? Collect the series to find out!

Review

When fans search for vintage Red Sonja comic books to collect, most will gravitate towards Marvel and Dynamite Entertainment. Surprisingly, there are several independent gems out there waiting for a new home. Red Sonja In 3-D by Blackthorne Publishing is one such book. As a standalone adventure, it’s light-hearted in nature, with some comic elements that I love. The 3-D art design, on the other hand, was not very impressive.

I struggled through the entire reading experience in an attempt to maintain the 3-D effect. The dialog was very hard to read with standard 3-D glasses. I tested three different sets of glasses, under various light sources. None of this work helped produce the desired effect. It may be the age of the ink, fading through time. However, I have a few 3-D books that are from the 1960s. Those maintain their amazing 3-D effects.

I give Red Sonja In 3-D three out of five stars. The nostalgia is definitely there even as a collector’s item. Seeing Sonja forced to serve a spoiled princess was priceless.
