My disdain for the Michael Bayverse era of Transformers movies is clear. While they enjoyed relative box office success, people eventually saw through the nonsensical stories, impossible to see shaky cam action, and juvenile jokes that eventually tanked the franchise.
Transformers: One did well to respect the franchise and return back to the G1 basics, but Paramount recently announced they will not be following that path. Instead, it is rumored that they will retread what has already failed by allowing Michael Bay to return to the franchise.
As reported by Screen Rant:
“Now, Matt Belloni of Puck News reports that Michael Bay is developing a new Transformers movie that he wants to direct. The film currently has Jordan VanDina (The Binge) attached as a writer. The report notes that it was Bay who sought out a Transformers return instead of the studio luring him back.”
Now thoroughly tapped out of new ideas, Michael Bay is searching for that next cash grab that will sink the Transformers franchise back to the depths Skybound’s Energon Universe has dug it out of. And I have critiques of that acclaimed endeavor as well, but that’s a story for another time.

Fingers crossed this is just a rumor, but money talks and Bay’s Transformers always did well overseas. And Paramount could use the cash infusion, so expect to see more of this. Or not see.
