Ridley Scott is developing a new Alien movie that would continue the story of David, the android played by Michael Fassbender in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. The plan appears to shift attention away from a direct Alien: Romulus sequel, although 20th Century Studios has not canceled that project. Scott discussed the next film during an interview with French outlet AlloCiné, as reported by Deadline. He said the movie would pick up after Alien: Covenant and follow David as he develops his own vision for a new world. “The one that just came out, 2024’s Alien: Romulus, was OK,” Scott said. “I think it needs some help. So, I’ve gone back in. I’ve already got a footprint for the next Alien. We did Prometheus, and then Alien: Covenant. So, I’m picking up where we left off in Covenant with Michael Fassbender, who now thinks he’s Ozymandias.” Alien: Romulus, directed by Fede Álvarez, earned about $351 million worldwide and holds an 80% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
