Patrik Walker is an Emmy Award–winning writer who covers all things Comics & Superheroes. His work can also be found at the Dallas Cowboys, The Sporting News, and CBS Sports, among other outlets. One of the most respected names in his field, he is also a diehard enthusiast of all things comics, anime, gaming and movies — thriving in spaces where discussions involving those or similar topics reign supreme.

Often a fan-favorite in Marvel Comics, Rogue has a lot of explaining to do to Marvel Studios fans who watched her allow Gambit to [spoiler] in Season 1 of X-Men '97, and especially after he was forced to see her and [spoiler] reveal their secret romance in plain view of a ballroom.

Season 2 of the hit Disney+ series arrives on July 1, and it is then that Rogue will need to continue making amends for her, well, treachery against the heart of Remy LeBeau in X-Men '97. In the comics space, however, it appears the two are as madly in love as they've ever been and, just ahead of Valentine's Day 2027, they'll prove it.

Rogue X Gambit (An X-Men Love Story) is a graphic novel being described as a "romantasy" between the two longtime lovers. Written by two of the most well-known names in authorship — Louangie Bou-Montes and Aabria Iyengar — you can bet it'll bring the heat, and in more ways than one.

X-Men's Rogue, Gambit Turn Up the Heat for Valentine's Day 2027

Per the official release: "In this steamy, moody romance, Rogue and Gambit race to save New Orleans' soul from vampires and greed incarnate—if their own checkered pasts and touch-starved yearning for each other don't destroy them first. She can't touch him. He can't stay away. Rogue is a hero. But when her bare touch can steal someone's memories, their powers, even their life—she feels monstrous. Yet no part of her feels more dangerous than the part that wants."

It continued: "Remy is a born thief. Even if he's turned a new leaf as Gambit, when he sees Rogue's walls, he wants to slip behind them. If she only trusted herself the way he does, he'd gladly lay every bit of his power at her feet. When Remy has a sinking feeling that New Orleans needs him, it's time to finally go home.

"He's just afraid of how much has changed; how much he has changed. What if returning as some big-league hero isn't what his friends and family need? But he's not alone—Rogue is at his side."

Marvel's Gambit + Rogue = Love ... and ... Vampires?

That isn't the only thing trying to get to Gambit's side, though — a powerful evil lurks.

"As their easy friendship simmers with temptation, can they gamble with getting closer? And there's no time to waste," the synopsis added. "In the wake of a devastating hurricane, bloodsuckers are lapping at the wounds of New Orleans, buying up the city in pieces and unleashing a threat even older than corporate greed: vampires."

That's a challenge that will push both to their limits, says Random House: "As Rogue and Remy uncover the sinister plot threatening the lifeblood of his hometown, they'll unearth their own issues they can't keep running from. It's easy to be the hero, but it can be much harder to let yourself be saved. For two people who could destroy everything they touch, love is a dangerous thing."

If Rogue doesn't make up for what happened to Remy in X-Men '97, at least her variant appreciates and would presumably never betray him in Rogue X Gambit (An X-Men Love Story).
